Two years ago, I was finishing my MSW in social work as a 28-year-old ‘mature’ student, enjoying my studies but struggling to balance making money around school and everything else. One afternoon, a guy who had followed me on Instagram for a while reached out to ask, politely, if I ever sold my worn underwear, because, if I did, he’d like to buy it.

I didn’t know what to think. Was he lonely? Should I feel offended, or flattered? Where do I even start?  I did some research. There are a few platforms that specialise in selling used underwear (who knew), who take anything from 20% – 50%,  but I went with Pantydeal for a few reasons, including that they don’t take commission on your sales.

What started as a strange, kinky side project has now given me more freedom than I could’ve imagined. Back then, selling my underwear fitted around and funded my studies. These days, it keeps me stable while I build my career. So I want to share with you how I did it.

Something I love about this market is that there’s no currency of ‘perfection’. You can be tall, small, chubby, covered in tattoos, in your 20s or in your 50s, from any cultural background, and your uniqueness is celebrated. There’s a niche for everything! An average pair goes for around 40 dollars, but I make the item more special (and charge more) for extra days of wear, and worn during special occasions, like working out, going to the office, masturbating, or more.

When I tell my friends that I sell my underwear they have so many questions. They all want to know how I do it. I’m sharing the following information because the gap between myth and reality around this world is big. So if you’ve ever been interested, here’s how it works.

HOW TO SELL YOUR USED UNDERWEAR

1.Register on the site.

Enter your personal details (which are never shown publicly), and select a username. The site has guides taking you through each step. On Pantydeal there are safety systems in place to make sure all members are over 18, checks to ensure people are who they say they are.

2. Create your Profile

Once you’ve registered, it’s time to create your profile, including a cover photo, profile photos, and profile description, describing yourself and your offers. This process is fun (especially if you’re a theatrical girly), but important to get right.Once you’re signed up, you can explore other sellers’ profiles to get a taste of what they’re doing. It can be helpful to lean into a persona: dangerous and grungy, soft and girly, sporty, spicy, whatever feels authentic to you.

3. Advertise!

The process goes like this:

  • Wear your underwear
  • Take a great photo
  • Create an irresistible ad
  • Post, and let buyers come to you.

* In your store you can offer other worn items like bras, socks, workout gear and stockings.

4. Arrange the Transaction

Usually, buyers browse the marketplace, look at new ads, maybe check the profiles or offers from new sellers, or sellers they’ve connected with, and, if they’re interested, message to enquire about something you’re selling. There is a review system, so you know if a member has a history of treating other members respectfully.

When arranging a transaction, kindness and clear boundaries are essential. When they want to buy something, make sure you know exactly what they want (Which pair? Worn for how many days? Any extras? Any fetishes? Dislikes?). Don’t give away private details to strangers of course.

5. Accept payment

Privacy and safety are important whenever you’re getting paid over the internet. Panty sellers can use a range of payment methods that let them receive money without sharing their real name, address, or bank information. Popular ones are Cashapp, Venmo and Amazon gift cards.

6. Shipping

After you’ve received payment, you can ship your panties. This can seem tricky, as there are things to bear in mind, but it’s simple once you know what you’re doing. The important things to remember are discretion, anonymity and keeping the panties in good condition (aka, fresh).

You can wrap your underwear in something like Saran Wrap and place them in a zip-lock bag. It’s good to add a personal touch, like a thank-you note, or a photo of the item being worn (no face needed). If your post office requires you to tag the package, you can write down clothing or sportswear, or similar.

Optional: Additional Services

If you move on to selling services like sexting, custom-made photos and videos, webcam sessions, you can quickly earn more. Newer sellers might earn a few hundred bucks per month when getting started. Experienced sellers who put time and effort into their online business can earn thousands.

If you’re overwhelmed, you can reach out to another seller. Lots of experienced members are down to give advice. I got through initial nerves with advice from a Canadian woman called Nikki, whose disability made it tough for her to keep a ‘regular’ job. She started selling on Pantydeal six years ago and found that working from home and making her own schedule allowed her to work independently.

That’s it! It’s really simple. For me, panty selling is more than just an unconventional side hustle, it’s a way to step into my power, set my own rules, and take ownership of my sexuality while building financial independence.  Two years later, my confidence is in the sky, and I walk around feeling like I’ve got a hot secret power. I’ve learned a lot about my own boundaries and desires, stigma, shame, and overcoming it. I’m feeling more independent and powerful than ever. Try it out.
